We are looking for a skilled Carpenter to join our commercial construction team. In this role, you will work on a variety of commercial building projects, including offices, retail spaces, and multi-story structures. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both rough and finish carpentry, with expertise in framing, installing structures, doors, windows, drywall, and cabinetry. As a Carpenter, you will ensure that all woodwork and structures are built to high standards, on schedule, and in compliance with safety and building codes.
Job Requirements and Duties:
- Framing and Structural Carpentry: Construct, erect, install, and repair structures made of wood, steel, and other materials in commercial building projects. This includes walls, floors, roofs, and support systems.
- Finish Carpentry: Install interior trim, doors, windows, moldings, cabinetry, and custom woodwork for commercial spaces. Ensure smooth, precise installations that meet aesthetic and functional requirements.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and material requirements for each project.
- Measure and Cut Materials: Measure and cut wood, plywood, drywall, and other materials to precise specifications using hand tools, power tools, and saws.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and best practices at all times. Ensure that job sites are secure and that all materials and tools are safely handled and stored.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, general contractors, and other tradespeople to coordinate tasks and ensure timely project completion.
- Drywall and Partition Installation: Build and install drywall partitions, ceilings, and other systems as required by project scope.
- Inspection and Quality Control: Inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications. Make adjustments and corrections as necessary.
- Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Regularly maintain and clean tools, equipment, and machinery to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
- Site Clean-Up: Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized worksite, including removing waste and debris when necessary.
Job Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of carpentry experience in commercial construction. Experience with both rough and finish carpentry is essential.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an apprenticeship program in carpentry is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, including framing, cutting, installing, and finishing wood structures. Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine material needs and project requirements.
- Mathematical Skills: Strong mathematical skills for measuring, calculating material requirements, and cutting precise angles.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in various weather conditions and heights.
- Safety Certifications: OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification, and any additional safety training relevant to commercial construction is a plus.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues on-site and implement solutions quickly to avoid project delays.
- Team-Oriented: Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborating with other trades and construction professionals.
- Attention to Detail: Precision and accuracy in all tasks, particularly when installing finish work such as trim, doors, and cabinetry.
- License: A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are preferred for commuting to different job sites.
