Jos. Schmitt Construction Company, Inc., a 120-year old, fourth generation, family owned construction company based in Sheboygan, Wisconsin is seeking to fill the following position:

  • Provide support for estimating for hard bid construction projects. This includes soliciting bids from  subcontractors, preparing a self-perform work estimate, receiving and analyzing subcontractor bids, and  preparing and submitting the final bid proposal. 

  • Provide support for estimating for pre-construction budgeting including conceptual budgeting,  schematic design budgeting, and design-development budgeting. 

  • Maintain and utilize our bid solicitation software. 

  • Prepare support for preliminary schedules for preconstruction submittals using SureTrak scheduling  software. 

  • Perform quantity take-offs for projects using On-Screen Take-off from On Center Software.
     
  • Provide support for bid tabulation spreadsheets that help indicate all bids received for the project or  select projects requiring this information. 

  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits for hard bid projects. 

  • It will be beneficial for the individual to have familiarity and some skills with AutoCAD. Possibly prepare  basic floor plans and elevations for simple projects. 

  • Maintain the company’s listing of “Projects in Progress” and “Major Construction Projects Completed”. 

  • Jos. Schmitt currently uses an Excel-based estimating system for all projects. This system is available for  use with new personnel; however, the company is open to other systems if there is substantive  reasoning behind that switch.

Minimum 2- 4 years, experience as estimator
