New Construction

Concordia Center for Environmental Stewardship

Perched on the restored bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan, this specialized facility serves as a premier research hub for freshwater conservation and environmental education.

Jos. Schmitt Construction managed the complex requirements for LEED Platinum certification, incorporating sustainable energy resources and high-performance mechanical systems throughout the laboratories and seminar spaces.

Coinciding with our company’s 110th anniversary, this project holds a unique place in our history; it was supported by a legacy gift from the Schmitt family to honor our firm’s long-standing partnership with the University.

The resulting building is a testament to both technical precision and a shared commitment to the preservation of the Great Lakes.
